Quay Lange Haven Plus in Schiedam

Within the Lange Haven Plus project, the canal in Schiedam is being brought back in good condition. At the same time, the work is being used to give the revised quays a new layout.

17,000 m of screw piles will be placed inside and behind the quay walls. These walls do not need to be completely overhauled; after the screw piles have been placed, the load-bearing function of the quay walls will disappear. Concrete precast elements are put onto the piles to distribute the pressure from surface loading. The advantage of this approach is that the existing quays can be maintained.

In less than one and a half years, a total of 1,200 m of quayside work will be carried out in a way that not only restores the quay walls and the load capacity of the quays, but also gives the project an added bonus. Where possible, all facilities for vessels in the Lange Haven will be carried out underground.

The contract was awarded to Boskalis. Tender was based on the Best Value Procurement principle.

DVA provided a design leader during the tender and execution phases, who was involved in the design, coordination and organisation activities, system engineering, interface management and risk analysis.
