The integrated project ‘Omlegging en Opwaardering Zuid-Willemsvaart Maas-Veghel’ (Diversion and upgrading of the Zuid-Willemsvaart Maas-Veghel) is an initiative of the Department of Public Works. The project is the upgrading of an important part of the Brabant canals. Part of the project is the ‘Topsysteem Zuid-Willemsvaart Den Dungen-Veghel’ (Top system Zuid-Willemsvaart Den Dungen-Veghel) with the project objective of making the Zuid-Willemsvaart between Den Dungen and Veghel suitable for class IV shipping, three-layer container shipping. The jacking up of three bridges is part of this project.
