The bridge “De Derde Brug” is part of the new city centre ring, which takes through traffic around the city centre of Abcoude. This drawbridge, over the Angstel, consists of two separate towers. The engine room is located in one of the towers, the other provides space for the bridge keeper. The body and flange structure of the twelve-metre balances is derived from the two existing drawbridges in the village.
Heijmans, Jansen-Venneboer and IPV were jointly commissioned for this design and construction project (design, communication and implementation for the reorganisation of the centre, the refurbishment of the Broekzijdselaan and the construction of the bridge).

DVA provided Heijmans with a design leader for the bridge De Derde Brug.
